Spanish designer Jaime Hayon says his Palette Desk echoes the rhythm of life these days. "In a world where everyone is rushing around mega multi-tasking, to sit at an ordinary desk feels so static." Inspired by the kinetic sculptures of Alexander Calder, Jaime's contrasting shapes suggest a freeze-frame of motion. The 2-tiered design combines a bean-shaped desktop with a smaller circular shelf in a striking juxtaposition of ash veneer with the accent of black or white honed marble or polished brass. A black powder-coated steel base plays up the sculptural aspect of this latest addition to the Palette series for noted Scandinavian brand &Tradition. As the designer observes, "In theory it's like a mobile but in reality it's a desk."
