Opal’s translucent but shatterproof polymer construction allows for contract use—while the soft glow also makes it apropos for residential environs. Tom Dixon uses a proprietary opalescent polycarbonate to form the perfectly illuminated wall-mounted sphere. And instead of an inner light bulb, it’s powered by an LED ring disc.
