Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara's 1955 Maija series readily adapts as a captivating table lamp composed of stacked metal discs that filter its seductive inner light from an integrated LED. The stepped structure was suggested by the moody feeling in Baltic cities, where the streets are barely illuminated apart from the glow in windows of homes and shops. Radiating a warm ambiance from the inside out, the timeless style is offered by Santa & Cole in its original pale pink or a white version.
