If the name Colossus sounds distant and aloof, that was the farthest thing from Chris Martin’s mind. “I came up with the idea for a massive, solid round table as the world seems especially chaotic right now,” explains the cofounder and head designer of Massproductions. “The world needs big tables that bring lots of people together.” With its monumental concrete pedestal base and durable laminate top, Colossus more than lives up to its name —the smaller of the 2 versions, measuring more than 6 feet in diameter, accommodates 12 people. Suited to expansive homes as well as contract settings, the table was also honored with the Swedish Design Award for furniture of the year.
