Lucian Ercolani’s equally timeless Utility armchair echoes the dining chair's tall U-shaped back and adds supportive armrests. The chair’s bow is steam-bent from a single straight ash rail into an amazingly tight radius. Then it is sanded and shaped to give its elegant profile. Traditional wedge joints—where the legs come right through the seat and then are hand-sanded flush with the surface—make for a signature design detail as well as a very strong joint, underscored by the H-underframe.
