It all started with No. 1, when Copenhagen family firm Fredericia engaged Børge Mogensen to head up design in 1955. His first sofa series revealed a guiding Midcentury template with a tightly upholstered frame, tactile solid-oak legs and comfortably angular armrests. With its clean lines softened by loose, interchangeable buttoned cushions, Mogensen's seating aimed to enhance people’s everyday lives —then and now, as it endures in essential 2-seater and 3-seater versions.
