Bernard Schottlander’s BS8 L evokes its namesake praying mantis in weightlessness, playing on the tension between balance and imbalance. Now, the designer’s original 1951 linear structure, topped by a black shade pivoting on a ball joint, has been structurally tweaked and improved just as Schottlander envisioned in his time. Along with a round base, the arm mechanism adopts a circular mechanism, only proving the timelessness of his original concept.
