Hans J. Wegner’s production-intensive chair design was set aside in his archives, where it remained for nearly half a century until it was brought back to life by Carl Hansen & Son. Wegner introduced the stackable Elbow in 1956 and it’s now become a much-acclaimed modern classic, available in 6 appealing oak finishes. The characteristic steam-bent backrest, crafted from a single piece of solid wood, provides elbow and lower back support and enables a variety of sitting positions while the chair’s unique rail construction under the custom-upholstered seat in form-pressed veneer adds stability.
